Renowned British actor Jeremy Irons arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport on 17 June to star in The Caged Bird, a film by acclaimed Sri Lankan director Chandran Rutnam.
This marks the first visit by a Hollywood actor of his stature to Sri Lanka in over 12 years, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). Irons landed from Mumbai aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL-144 at 11:00 p.m. and was welcomed by SLTPB officials.
The production, featuring award-winning international talent, aims to spotlight Sri Lanka as a rising hub for film tourism.
