Thai AirAsia resumes direct flights from Bangkok

Low-cost airline Thai AirAsia on Sunday resumed its direct four times weekly flights between Bangkok (DMK) in Thailand and Colombo.

The first flight Thai AirAsia AIQ 140 from Don Mueang International Airport arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on 9 July 2023 at 10.06 p.m.

An A-320 Airbus aircraft carrying 134 passengers and 07 crew arrived Sunday night and returned to Bangkok with 174 passengers.

The passengers were warmly welcomed at BIA upon their arrival with a traditional Kandyan dancing performance and Sri Lanka Tea Board Ceylon tea gift packs, airport authorities said.

Thai AirAsia will operate 04 flights per week between Thailand and Sri Lanka, namely on Saturdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flights will arrive at Katunayake Airport at 10:00 p.m. and will depart BIA for Don Mueang Airport in Thailand at 11:00 p.m.

A spokeswoman of the airline said the flight will take 03 hours and 15 minutes, and the round trip flight tickets will cost only 50,000 rupees.
